Youth Changemakers
The Machen Center's Youth Changemakers embody The Machen Center mission and fundamental principle that every individual needs unconditional love and support in order to be happy and successful - in the myriad ways happiness and success are experienced. Ms. Machen was the organization’s first changemaker through her innovative service approach that places human connection at its center and demonstrated how a compass of caring has ripple effects from individual to families to community and the world.
In continuing the spirit of Ms. Machen's approach of fostering trust and respect, Machen Center Youth Changemakers:
-
Are role models
-
Are volunteers and leaders
-
Build meaningful peer and adult connections
-
Engage in dialogue that encourages growth, compassion, and a sincere reflection on our individual and collective responsibilities in our world
Definition of a Changemaker: “A person who desires change in the world and, by gathering knowledge and resources, makes that change happen. Changemakers are defined by their ability to take ideas into action…Changemakers are tenacious about the greater good.” (B. Drayton, CEO of Ashoka)
