MACHEN CENTER
Community Support & Advocacy est. 1997
About Us
Overview
Established in 1997 in the Oceanview/Merced/Ingleside (OMI) community of San Francisco, the Machen Center provides services city-wide and beyond, with over 25 years experience.
Philosophy
The Center is named after Ms. Machen, an award-winning community activist whose fundamental belief is that every individual needs unconditional love and support in order to succeed in life.
Following this belief, Ms Machen and her daughters, Barbara and Marguerite, organized the center to address the specific needs of underserved people in San Francisco, particularly in the OMI.
A Unique Approach
The Machen Center is a small, unique, grassroots organization benefitting the community by methodically addressing the problems and needs of its individuals. We do this through a holistic approach to individual problem solving.
Our volunteers know their clients’ individual situations and provide services tailored to their unique needs. This personal and comprehensive approach fosters trust and respect.
